Matthias Kretschmer, Senior Consultant
Upon arriving at The Taylor Group in 2005, Matthias was asked to describe himself in one word. He chose: German. It is unlikely a more fitting description has ever been uttered.
Meticulous, focused, and numbers-oriented, Matthias directs quantitative research studies, specializing in projects that require complex statistical analysis. He possesses a keen interest in methodological issues and is heavily involved in the graphical display of quantitative data. In particular, Matthias manages projects in the telecommunications and media/entertainment industries.
Originally from Germany, Matthias has also lived in Australia, and has visited Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, The UK, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Haiti, and New Zealand. One of his passions is football—or “soccer,” as it is known here in the United States; during the 2006 World Cup (hosted by, yes, Germany), shouts (some described them as yelps) could be heard emanating from his office at sporadic intervals throughout the day. (During Euro 2008, it was much the same.)
Matthias earned an M.A. in survey research and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Connecticut. He obtained bachelor’s degrees in American literature and political science from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. Before joining Taylor, Matthias was a research director at Roy Morgan Research in Melbourne, Australia, and a project director at ZMG, the national newspaper marketing organization, in Frankfurt.
